News For the Week of September 17, 2012

So thankful for all the good rain that has fallen to refresh our yards, gardens and creeks.  I love rainy weather although it makes it difficult for Bob to work in the timber. The cooler temperatures have also been a relief to all those working outside. I admit I like warmer temperatures better, but I do enjoy all the seasons.

Scott Lawson has enlisted in the National Guard and Julie and Scott’s mom, Carrie Jenkins are going to watch him be sworn in. Garrett will be staying with me that day, one of my favorite ways to spend the day. Scott won’t be serving active duty until later in the year.

There is going to be a benefit for Justin Combs and family at Chadwick School on September 22. It will start at 4:00pm with a chili supper and live music and there will be a silent auction from 4:00-6:00 as well as a live auction starting around 6:00pm. On August 6^th Justin was in an automobile accident and damaged his spinal column. He has undergone a major surgery on his back and is in therapy. Katie Clarkson called to say the Sullenger reunion will be the last Sunday of the month, September 30 at Taneyville at Sullenger Park, starting at 1:00 pm.

Taylor McHaffie would like everyone to keep an eye out for her two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. One is male and one female. The gate was accidentally left open and they got out. If you see them please call 796-2254 or 546-7563. Like all our pets, they are a part of the family and Taylor is anxious to have them back home.

Volleyball will be Niangua on Tuesday, September 25 and then a volleyball tournament at Niangua on Saturday, September 29. Junior High basketball is going on this week with a tournament for the girls at Bradleyville, September 17-21. Next week the boys will be in a tournament at Taneyville, September 24-28.
